Miami Concierge

Let’s see…. Where should I begin? Well, for starters, hello and welcome to my virtual concierge site! People have been requesting that I branch off and open my own site for a while, but I never really put much thought into the idea because I never knew how to begin… still pretty much don’t, but I’m getting the hang of it little by little!

My name is Kristine, which I’m sure most of you already know, or are beginning to realize! I was born in Miami in 1985 and raised in Coral Springs. At age 18, I moved back to Miami with hopes to study medicine at Florida International University…. My first chemistry class changed my views on pre-med quickly. I am not meant for crazy scientific equations and/or the math that comes with them! As much as I loved going to the hospitals with my father all my life, the field was just not meant for me!

A friend of mine told me I should work for the Marriott, and that I had the personality for the hospitality industry. I said to myself, “Okay, why not? Now that I know being a doctor is out of the question… Why not try something new?” I then started to work for the Marriott Corporation for a property in Doral, FL. I instantly fell in love with the hospitality industry and everything it entailed. Maybe I wasn’t curing someone medically, but I sure was helping them out by making them genuinely happy while here in Miami! I quickly fell in love with hospitality and the ability to be able to make someone’s stay the best one ever!

Now knowing what I loved and wanted to do, I continued my studies at FIU in Hospitality: Travel & Tourism! I am still in the process of receiving my degree; it’ll come when it’s meant to!

I then moved to the Midtown Miami area and applied for another Marriott in Brickell, two days later…. I was a concierge in the lobby of the most prestigious brand of the Marriott! I had never been a concierge! I didn’t know where the closest non-chain/local Italian restaurant was, let alone the closest luxury car rental location?! I loved the property so much and grew to learn EVERYTHING there is to know about Miami. I became a member of the Southern Florida Concierge Association in January of 2008. I was then introduced to the biggest people in the South Florida concierge industry as well as around the world. I quickly became known as one of the youngest members, being only 22 at the time.

Being a concierge in the heart of Downtown for a 4 star property really required a wealth of knowledge. I then realzed I wanted to try the crazy/party side of the concierge industry and re-located to South Beach. After trying out a few hotels, I found my new home at a brand new Starwood Hotel in the heart of South Beach. Always a challenge and never a dull moment... South Beach seems to be my permament residence as a concierge for a few years to come!

I learned the tricks of the trade, and met the people I needed to meet in order to help me complete my job with such efficiency!
